Kenneth Charles Abendroth
Kenneth Charles Abendroth passed away June 20, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital, Tucson, AZ.
He was born August 26, 1925, to Datus and Gertrude (Stenze) Abendroth in Elgin, IL, and moved to Minneapolis, MN, where he grew up. He attended the University of Minnesota and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then went to Fargo, ND, where he was affiliated with Watson Real Estate Co. and helped develop Brookdale Shopping Center in Moorhead, MN. On May 19, 1956, he married Vernice Lenore Perhus of Kindred, ND. Kenneth made a career in real estate as a developer, broker, appraiser and author. A great motivator, he sought to help the underprivileged and less fortunate, most recently through volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Federal Way, WA. In 2003, both being retired, Vernice and Ken moved from Seattle to Tucson, AZ.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Vernice of 48 years; one daughter, Shelly Ann (Kevin) Chess of Tucson, AZ; four sons, Kent James (Linda), Charles Patrick (Elizabeth), of Seattle, WA, Scott Orin (Jennifer), Corona, CA, and John Datus (Amy), Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren: Jillian, Austin, Isabella, Collin, and Christian Abendroth and Jacob and Samuel Chess; three brothers, Thomas, Paul and James Abendroth; and one sister, Elaine Murphy, all of Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass was held at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Tucson, AZ, with burial at the Veterans cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ.
