Winona LaDuke, director of the White Earth Land Recovery Project, is the featured speaker for a Tri-College University women's leadership event.
She will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Beckwith Hall in the Reineke Fine Arts Center at NDSU. The event is free and open to the public.
LaDuke, an enrolled member of the Mississippi Band of Anishinaabeg, is also program director of Honor the Earth.
In 1996 and 2000, LaDuke ran for vice president on the Green Party ticket with Ralph Nader.
Starting today, the Tri-College University is sponsoring a five-day program in conjunction with the National Education for Women's Leadership Development Network. It will provide leadership training for future electoral candidates, campaign workers and grass-roots advocates.
