A Pelican Rapids, Minn., man who died Monday in Pelican Lake, appears to have suffered a heart attack, authorities said Tuesday.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office changed the cause of death of Leslie Beck Ford, 70, of rural Pelican Rapids, from drowning to a heart attack.
Ford was trying to connect a plastic marker onto a buoy in the lake about noon Monday when he became motionless.
Ford's wife swam out to him and pulled him to shore, before he was taken to a Detroit Lakes, Minn., hospital.
Ford was pronounced dead later at the hospital.
