Lawrence Welk tribute show Sept. 10 in Fargo

FARGO - Fargo production company Prairie Airwaves monthly program "Dakota Air: The Radio Show" will present a live performance tribute to Lawrence Welk at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway.

The tribute will feature the sounds of "The Lawrence Welk Show" and its leading stars as performed by North Dakota musicians including accordionist Victor Schwahn, vocalists Reed Malm, Sam Mack, Vicki Melchior, Carolyn Wintersteen and Merrill Piepkorn, the Harley Sommerfeld Band and Levi and Bethany Andrist.

Former North Dakota first lady Nancy Jones Schafer will play one of Welk's accordions from the collection at North Dakota State University's Institute for Regional Studies.

VIP tickets are $40 and include reserved seating and a post-show reception with performers and German Russian cuisine. Non-VIP tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
