MOORHEAD - A 47-year-old convicted of a third sex crime was sentenced to life in prison this week in Clay County District Court.
Eugene Lee Rushton of Felton pleaded guilty on May 27 to a count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Rushton was accused in court records of touching a 15-year-old female acquaintance inappropriately. She awoke on a couch to catch him in the act and yelled at him to stop, according to a complaint filed against him on March 29.
He has prior sex abuse convictions dating back to 1992 and 1998, according to court records.
Rushton will be eligible for parole after 25 years in prison, but he would be on conditional release for the rest of his life if paroled. He was sentenced Wednesday.
