Who are these guys? Fargo's new firefighter trainees?
Not quite.
They are Fargo's mayor, city commissioners and fire chief.
In February, the Fargo Fire Department unveiled its newest (and seventh) station at a grand opening.
The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an open house and tours of the facility, located in the Osgood area of south Fargo.

For fun during the celebration, these city officials donned helmets and posed for photos similar to those that were common several decades ago. Commissioner Mike Williams sent this shot to Forum reporter Helmut Schmidt, who forwarded it to Neighbors.
Mike notes that the fire department has given all the commissioners other than the mayor some hands-on experience in putting out a fire, doing search and rescue in a smoky building, rappelling down a six-story building and using the Jaws of Life to get into a crashed vehicle.
This program, Mike says, "helps demonstrate the skill, teamwork, strength, endurance and dedication our Fargo firefighters have."
But back to the guys in the picture: Could they really put out a blaze?
You know, maybe so. Bruce is fire chief, and all of them, as city leaders, are experienced in putting out other kinds of fires.
