A feeder line that tripped in south Moorhead knocked out power to 600 homes for two hours Wednesday night.
"We got about 200 million calls," joked Terry Thomason, a Moorhead Public Service dispatcher.
The Moorhead Police Department began receiving calls about power outages in an area from 20th Street east to 34th Street and Interstate 94 north to 12th Avenue sometime after 8 p.m., Sgt. Dan Griffin said.
Police directed traffic at two busy intersections - 34th Street and Highway 52 and 12th Avenue and Highway 52 - without working stoplights, Griffin said.
Thomason said a buildup of current in an underground cable caused a breaker to trip, knocking out power.

Public Service employees restored power by 10:15 p.m., he said.
