Local events planned today for POW-MIA Day

FARGO - Several local events are planned today in honor of POW-MIA Day.

FARGO – Several local events are planned today in honor of POW-MIA Day.

Veterans organizations from the United Patriotic Bodies will meet at the Veterans Memorial Bridge here at 9 a.m. for a short ceremony honoring POWs and MIAs. The Vietnam Veterans of America will do the Missing Man Ceremony, the American Legion Post 2 Fargo will do military honors and other color guards will participate in the ceremonies.

Other events today include a sloppy joe luncheon at 5 p.m. at the Fargo VFW Post 762, 202 Broadway, available free of charge to the public until gone. At 6 p.m., the Fargo VFW will do the Missing Man Ceremony and a POW balloon release will follow.

Fargo Amvets Post 7, 1001 1st Ave. S., will do a Missing Man Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Other local veterans posts will also have activities today. For more information, contact Terry Richardson at (701) 491-0493.
