FARGO - The Salvation Army raised $22,000 more than its goal of $625,000 for the 2008 red kettle campaign, the organization announced Wednesday.
"We crushed it, just as I knew we would," said Capt. Adam Moore.
The campaign, which started Nov. 19 and accepted donations through Jan. 1, raised $657,270.
In 2007 the campaign topped its goal of $600,000 by more than $56,000.
"We had faith not only in our provider but also in the great community that we are honored to serve," Moore said, praising those who volunteered.

Moore said the donations go toward services like the more than 92,000 hot meals served last year, 183 emergencies the disaster team responded and other expenses like rent, utilities and prescription care.
