TOWNER, N.D. - Authorities arrested a 28-year-old Louisiana woman Tuesday evening in connection with the slaying of an elderly woman in Montrose, Minn.
Coty Danos Martinez, 24, was taken into custody without incident about 5:30 p.m., said McHenry County Sheriff Marvin Sola. Jeremy Dewayne Brooks, who is also wanted in connection with the murder, was still at large as of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday and was thought to be in the McHenry County area.
A recent sighting report placed Brooks in Anamoose about 5:30 p.m., Sola said.
Martinez was staying at a residence where no one knew who she was. "She told people she was looking to start over in Minot" with a new job, he said.
Martinez is being held in the Rugby jail while authorities continue their search for Brooks.
