DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – A Mahnomen man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for selling meth.

Wayne Allen Gjerde, 50, of 2235 College Road, Mahnomen, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on one felony count of second-degree controlled substance crime. A second felony count was dropped in a plea agreement.

According to court records, on Feb. 4 he sold 5.4 grams of meth (with packaging) for $580 to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force.

On March 9 the informant arranged to meet him to buy 7 grams of meth, but when the informant arrived, most of the meth had already been sold to others.

During the half-hour the informant was at Gjerde’s residence, two other people arrived and offered to sell him 7 grams of meth for $600, which they did.
