Fargo drivers will feel the first impacts of this year's Main Avenue reconstruction project Monday morning.

Workers will begin to close the center lane of Main Avenue west of Interstate 29 between 36th and 45th streets, where necessary, to remove the median.

Another traffic impact is expected just east of the I-29 bridge for the installation of temporary traffic signals and more median removal.

More traffic impacts will occur throughout the week, and traffic is expected to go head-to-head on the north side of Main Avenue west of I-29 sometime the following week, project engineer Joe Peyerl said.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is widening Main Avenue from four lanes to six lanes from 25th to 45th streets.
