FARGO - Police say a Fargo man choked a woman unconscious after yelling at her because the vehicle waiting to pick her up at the Salvation Army in downtown Fargo was blocking his car.
The alleged victim, a 21-year-old Fargo woman, was walking toward her ride about 12:28 p.m. Friday when the suspect in the car behind her ride yelled at her, "This ain't no (expletive) parking lot," Sgt. Mark Lykken said.
The suspect allegedly choked the woman, first with one hand and then with two, until she was unconscious, Lykken said.
A 51-year-old Fargo man who ran to the woman's aid was allegedly knocked to the ground, striking his head on the pavement, Lykken said.
Police arrived and arrested Gregory George Mayer, 61, of Fargo, on suspicion of aggravated assault. He was taken to the Cass County Jail.
