A 26-year-old Fargo man was arrested early Saturday, suspected of driving into a fence while trying to avoid a traffic stop, police said.
Anthony Charles Klutter, 825 42nd St. S., was arrested on suspicion of eluding a police officer in a vehicle, fleeing on foot, criminal mischief, driving under the influence, driving under suspension and failure to report an accident.
Sgt. Valerie Boatright said police tried to pull over a speeding vehicle heading west in the 1700 block of Third Avenue South about 3 a.m. Saturday
The driver did not pull over and accelerated quickly after stopping at the intersection of Fifth Avenue South and 25th Street. Boatright said the officer then stopped pursuing the vehicle, which was traveling an estimated 75 to 80 mph.
The vehicle was found about three blocks away after it struck a wrought-iron fence surrounding a greenhouse at S&S Landscaping, 2777 Fiechtner Drive, Boatright said. The driver was caught climbing the fence in an attempt to escape, she said.

Boatright said the business estimated the damage to the fence and surrounding plants to be more than $10,000.
Klutter was arrested and released to MeritCare Hospital for treatment. A hospital official said no condition report was available.
