FARGO - A Fergus Falls, Minn., man is facing felony charges here for his role in an alleged dog theft from West Acres mall on Aug. 2.

Jason Alexander Schmidt was charged Thursday in Cass County District Court with one count of accomplice to theft, a Class C felony.

According to the police report, Schmidt was waiting in the car outside the mall while his girlfriend, an 18-year-old Fergus Falls woman, stole a puppy from the "Pets-r-Inn" store at the mall.

The woman walked out of the mall and got into the car with the puppy valued at more than $500.

The puppy was found at Schmidt's home and returned to the pet store, the report said.
