Karl Krueger didn't know the man who walked into his mother's house around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, but he knew he didn't belong there.
"He needed to leave, quickly," said Krueger, who immediately confronted the intruder.
Krueger said the man scuffled with him as he pushed him out the door of the house where his mother and brother live at 813 12th Ave. N., Fargo.
Krueger, 28, who had stopped at the house after his work shift at the Nestor bar, said he head-butted the intruder and got him on the ground in the front yard.
He said his 25-year-old brother, who had been sleeping on the couch, woke up during the scuffle and pulled him off the intruder.

Krueger said the man came back at him and they scuffled some more until Krueger spotted a patrol car driving by.
When he went to flag it down, the intruder started walking off.
Krueger said he didn't get far and the officer took him into custody.
Tyler Redfox, 21, Warwick, N.D., was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and possessing drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Krueger received five stitches for a gash on his forehead.
He said the intruder appeared to be very intoxicated and he doesn't believe the man had anything sinister in mind when he walked in the house.
"I think he was looking for a place to go to sleep," Krueger said.
