Man found dead in northwest Minnesota ditch after apparent hit-and-run

BAGLEY, Minn. - A Naytahwaush, Minn., man was found dead in a ditch southwest of Bagley, Minn., after investigators say he was hit by a vehicle, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.

BAGLEY, Minn. – A Naytahwaush, Minn., man was found dead in a ditch southwest of Bagley, Minn., after investigators say he was hit by a vehicle, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.

Russell Marvin Auginaush, 35, was struck by a vehicle while walking along Lower Rice Lake Road, investigators believe, according to a press release issued Monday morning by the Sheriff’s Office.

Clearwater County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at about 2:35 p.m. Sunday on reports of a dead body in a ditch on Lower Rice Lake Road in southern Clearwater County, the release says.

The body was identified as belonging to Auginausch, the release says. An autopsy will be carried out to confirm the cause of death, the release says.

Deputies have seized a vehicle of interest, the release says, though it does not specify where the vehicle was found nor to whom it is registered. The release says further testing on the vehicle will be completed.
