A 46-year-old man was in critical condition Monday after crashing his Chevy pickup truck into a parked semi trailer in West Fargo on Sunday.

The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Sunday on the 400 block of 15th Street Northwest.

A witness saw the pickup heading down 15th Street at an estimated speed of between 60 and 70 mph, said West Fargo police officer Al Schmidt.

The witness reported seeing a burst of dust and hearing a loud noise as the pickup truck slid underneath the back of the trailer.

The driver, Darcy Christianson, was pinned behind the steering wheel, but appeared to have ducked before impact, Schmidt said.
