A Fergus Falls, Minn., man pleaded guilty Monday to robbing a Moorhead music store in January 2005.
Anthony Shawn Macal, 37, pleaded guilty before Judge John Pearson in Clay County District Court to aggravated robbery. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon was dismissed.
Court records say Macal entered the Retro-Disc store at 1215 Center Ave. on Jan. 25 and sold the store several DVDs. He returned later in the day to ask if he could have some of the DVDs back.
When the clerk turned his back, Macal struck him in the head with a hammer and demanded money from the cash register. He fled after getting the money, but investigators found a cell phone in the store and traced it to Macal.
Pearson ordered a presentence investigation and set a Feb. 22 sentencing date.
