A Fargo man pleaded innocent in U.S. District Court Monday to possessing computer files filled with child pornography.

David Allen Eberle, 41, 1436 4th Ave. N., kept "numerous" computer files containing child porn, court records say.

The case against Eberle, an employee of a Fargo-based inventory control company, remained sealed until Monday. Two documents remain sealed.

A one-page grand jury indictment filed July 9 and opened for public inspection Monday doesn't contain information about the circumstances leading to Eberle's arrest.

U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley said law enforcement officers believe Eberle used a home computer to access the images.

He said officers used an informant in their case against Eberle.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Klein scheduled Eberle's jury trial for Sept. 29.

Klein released Eberle without requiring him to post a cash bond, but placed conditions on his pre-trial release.

Klein ordered Eberle not to have unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18.

The judge also ordered Eberle not to possess a personal computer and prohibited him from accessing the Internet.

If convicted, Eberle could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison and be fined up to $250,000.

Eberle's arrest is part of a local crackdown on Internet sex crimes.

About 12 men face local charges this year of using the Internet to lure minors for sex.

Three other local men were charged last month in Fargo's U.S. District Court with possessing child pornography from the Internet.
