GRAND FORKS, N.D. - A 20-year-old man accused of beating a 70-year-old woman here and leaving her tied up in her home has pleaded not guilty to several charges.
Andrew Moreland is charged with aggravated assault, felonious restraint, terrorizing, robbery, burglary and preventing arrest.
Moreland allegedly forced his way into the victim's home on Aug. 8 and hit her on the head with a metal object. He also allegedly tied her up. Police said Moreland then spent about 45 minutes cutting words from magazines before leaving.
Authorities said they found Moreland hiding in the bathroom of a neighbor's home.
Moreland is being held at the Grand Forks County Jail. His bail is set at $140,000.
