FARGO - A man accused in the beating death of another man in a downtown apartment last fall over money has pleaded not guilty.
Clayton Lee Lockwood entered a not guilty plea to manslaughter Wednesday morning at his arraignment in Cass County District Court.
Lockwood, 44, was charged following the death of Mario Perez in a Fargo hospital, weeks after Perez was discovered lying in a downtown apartment with severe head and face injuries.
Police said Perez and Lockwood had been acquaintances. Neither man had a permanent address.
