A man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday on a meth charge stemming from his arrest in a Fargo hotel.
Arturo Ramirez Robles, 27, pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court to possessing more then 3 ounces of high-grade crystal meth with the intent to distribute. Police arrested him Oct. 29 while searching a room at Howard Johnson, 301 3rd Ave. N.
The guilty plea carried a minimum mandatory five-year prison sentence because of a prior felony conviction of meth possession.
Robles, who listed an address in St. Paul, is in the country illegally and will likely be deported to Mexico upon his release from prison, said his attorney, Dennis Fisher.
Police also found $2,000 cash on Robles during his arrest, said Assistant State's Attorney Lisa Fair McEvers. He also pleaded guilty to felony possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Fargo police, with help from North Dakota Parole and Probation, searched the room on suspicion of a probation violation by another suspect, Crystal Dawn Mattern, 28, 610 12th St. N., Moorhead.
Prosecutors charged her with felony possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also scheduled to plead guilty Monday, but her attorney got a continuance.
