FARGO - A Fargo man shot by police after allegedly brandishing a BB gun at Fargo officers here last fall is set to plead guilty.

Karmen Redshirt is set for a change of plea hearing in March in Cass County District Court for charges connected with the car chase and alleged terrorizing that preceded the shooting, Cass County prosecutor Cherie Clark said Tuesday.

Prosecutors allege Redshirt and his wife led law enforcement on an erratic car chase in the wee hours of Sept. 28, ending in a parking lot near the Fargo Wal-Mart on 13th Avenue South.
Redshirt ignored 19 commands from Fargo Police Officer Patrick Thomas to drop what appeared to be a real firearm, but which instead turned out to be a pewter-colored BB gun, authorities allege.

Thomas shot Redshirt in the abdomen, a shooting the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and his own department later determined to be appropriate.

Redshirt's blood alcohol content was allegedly tested as 0.279 percent, more than three times the legal limit to drive, police say.

He's charged with two counts of felony terrorizing and one each of theft of property and reckless endangerment, all C felonies, plus one count of B misdemeanor failure to halt.
