MINOT – A California man who had the wrong address and shot the wrong man in a hit in Minot more than two years ago pleaded guilty in North Central District Court to the shooting Tuesday.
James Curr Robinson, plead guilty to criminal conspiracy to commit murder, a Class AA felony, in exchange for a nine-year prison sentence. By admitting guilt, a charge of attempted murder was dropped.
The deal comes as a result of a July 2013 shooting, which authorities believe was gang related.
Robinson and three other men--Charles Tomlin, Thomas Dumas, and Calvin Rogers-- were charged with traveling to Minot from Dickinson with plans to kill a man after an acquaintance of theirs was injured in a fight at the Blind Duck Bar on South Broadway.
According to an affidavit, the men were told by Dickinson resident Jimmy Stewart to "take care of" the man responsible for the fight, believed to be Quentin Hendry. However, the group apparently had an outdated address for Hendry, and shot resident Christopher Docher in the neck instead.Docher was treated at Trinity Medical Center after the shooting and has since recovered.
Dumas and Rogers are both facing conspiracy to commit murder and are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 7 for a pretrial conference. Tomlin has a restitution hearing Friday in court.
