A judge has ordered a 56-year-old man to spend 60 days in jail and register as a sex offender for trying to hire a 14-year-old girl to dance nude for him and have sex with him.
James N. Dueker previously pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court to felony conspiracy to permit a minor to participate in a harmful performance and misdemeanor attempting to hire an individual to engage in sexual activity.
Dueker, 16187 13th St. S.E., Grandin, N.D., was arrested during a sting operation last March 28 in Fargo after he made arrangements to meet a 14-year-old girl. Instead, he was met by a Cass County detective and arrested.
East Central Judicial District Judge Wickham Corwin sentenced Dueker on Monday to one year, first to serve 60 days, with 305 days suspended for five years of supervised probation. He was given credit for four days in custody and ordered to complete sex offender treatment and pay $1,000 in fines and fees.
The conviction did not require Dueker to register as a sex offender, but Assistant Cass County State's Attorney Mark Boening asked Corwin to order it, saying Dueker's actions were of a predatory nature.
