CASSELTON, N.D. - A crash at an intersection a mile south of here on Monday afternoon has injured a Mapleton man.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Loren Elsner of Marion was driving northbound on state Highway 18 en route to Casselton when his semi struck Kenneth Weinzierl's pickup on the passenger side, causing it to roll over in the east ditch. Weinzierl had been eastbound on 38th Street Southeast, crossing the highway.
Weinzierl, a rural mail carrier from Mapleton, was airlifted to Essentia Health in Fargo. Elsner was not injured.
Weinzierl was cited for a traffic violation of disregarding a stop sign.
