GRAND FORKS - They have an aluminum rain gutter more than 600 feet long, and they plan to run it down the middle of Main Street in Cavalier on Saturday. They will fill it with ice cream and serve up sundaes probably around noon for all who show up.

They are seeking to break a record for this sort of event and have contacted the Guinness Book of World Records. They tell me the current record is 321 feet.

They are a group of youth from four churches who meet Wednesday evenings at the Cavalier Evangelical Free Church. Their leader is Kyle Gagner. He says Mayor Ken Briese and city police will be standing by.

The community backs the youth. The seamless gutter is being provided by M&D Seamless. And donors have promised 150 gallons of ice cream and toppings.
