Senior citizens who want to attend a new series of programs at the Fargo Public Library can leave their car at home.

Metro Area Transit is offering seniors a free ride to the library's "Second Monday Spotlight" programs. Seniors must show the bus driver their library card to take advantage of the offer.

The new "Second Monday Spotlight" programs begin Monday and continue through April 10 at the downtown library. A different program is planned for each month, and all programs will begin at 2 p.m. in the library's meeting room. Programs are open to all ages.

January's program features an introductory class on genealogy taught by local expert Dan Haglund. Conductor and violinist Tom Wellin will present February's program, "Thomas Jefferson -- Musician," on the third president's little-known side as an accomplished violinist. For details on these free events, call Diane at (701) 241-1492.

Anyone who needs help planning travel on the MAT bus system can call (701) 232-7500 or visit www.matbus.com for assistance.
