MAYVILLE, N.D. - A business owner here faces felony charges of burglary and criminal mischief in Traill County District Court.
According to a media release from Traill County Sheriff Mike Crocker:
Mayville resident Douglas M. Strand, 32, owner of DMS Construction, is accused of entering the rural home of Jason and Dawn Huard on May 9.
Strand allegedly cut the hot water line to the sink, which then caused extensive water damage to the Huard's home.
Strand is being held at the Traill County Jail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.

Traill County officials, with assistance from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, are continuing to investigate the incident.
The burglary charge, a class B felony, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
The criminal mischief charge, a class C felony, carries a maximum penalty of five years' in prison, a fine of $5,000, or both.
