WATFORD CITY, N.D. - Officials on Thursday released the names of a man who was killed and a woman who was injured in an accident Wednesday morning in McKenzie County.
Carolyn J. English of Bainville, Mont., was driving a pickup north on Highway 23 when she turned left onto 38th Street Northwest in front of a semi. The semi, driven by Frank A. Carvell of Newport, Wash., hit the pickup as it turned, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The pickup came to rest in a ditch, and the semi rolled to the driver side of the pickup before stopping. Part of the semitrailer obstructed the highway, and the road was closed for three hours.
Carvell, 45, was not wearing a seat belt. It was unclear whether he was pronounced dead at the scene. English, 50, was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. Both vehicles were totaled.
