Making 20 of its first 24 shots, North Dakota State's men's basketball team jumped out to a 44-6 lead en route to a season-opening 128-64 win over Mayville State on Tuesday night at the Bison Sports Arena.
The Bison set three school records. It was the most lopsided win (64 points), breaking a 49-point win over Mayville in 2002. NDSU scored the most points in one half (74), breaking the previous record of 64 against Valley City State in 1989. And it was the most points in a modern-day game, topping the previous high of 123 against Minnesota State Moorhead in 1989.
Ben Woodside led the Bison with 28 points with double-figure scoring from six other players.
