Michael Johnson of Halstad, Minn., was ordained a transitional deacon Wednesday at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Moorhead.
Johnson served as a lay pastor to Halstad Lutheran Parish and was chaplain to the Halstad Living Center.
He will be ordained to the priesthood this December.
