Michael Vasiljeciv: Swiss student tells all

Nobody makes bad comments about the country I'm from. Most treat me just like I am an American student who is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Even when I have a hard sentence, the teachers mostly think I know what it is about. Except for sometimes misunderstanding, I can do everything Americans can do.

What I like most about being an international student at Oak Grove is that I can ask teachers as many questions as I want. Most of the time they don't get mad. Students really help each other if there is a problem.

What I really like about being an international student at Oak Grove is to have the opportunity to have English as a Second Language science or math. There I can really tell the teachers care about their international students and feel for us.

What I really like is that Oak Grove accepts people from every country and people from every race and American students don't make fun of them. I like the way people treat each other.

In Switzerland, when a student comes from a different country most other students don't come up to them and start a conversation. American students come up to you and start a conversation. People are more open here.

I really enjoy being an international student because you have so many options and students are open with each other.

Vasiljeciv is a freshman at Oak Grove.
