Activity is picking up along the Minnesota side of the Red River. Officials are working to reinforce levees in Perley, Halstad, and Hendrum.
Minnesota National Guard soldiers are on the ground patrolling levees along the river. 200 soldiers are in Clay County (Moorhead, Georgetown and Oakport). 79 are in Norman County (Perley, Halstad and Hendrum). Fifteen soldiers are in Marshall County (Oslo).
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is supporting Clay County with two boats to conduct rural resident safety checks and evacuation or rescue if necessary.
The Minnesota State Patrol and The Minnesota Department of Transportation urge drivers to drive with caution as flooding continues to affect local highways and interstates in west central Minnesota.
