WEST FARGO – A Minneapolis man with a 2-year-old in his car fled from police here and struck a fire hydrant.

West Fargo police attempted to stop Anthony Sims, 20, in the 1500 block of Seventh Avenue Northeast on Monday just before 4 p.m., the West Fargo Police Department said in a news release.

Sims sped off, fleeing police before he lost control of his vehicle and hit a fire hydrant and fence along the 4300 block of Seventh Avenue North in Fargo, the release said.

Sims fled on foot but was later found in the 600 block of 43½ Street North in Fargo.

The mother of the 2-year-old child, Lonisha Fagerstrom, 32, of St. Paul, was also in the car, police said.

Fagerstrom was arrested for possession with intent to deliver, and Sims was arrested for possession with intent to deliver, fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, driving under suspension, violation of a protection order and for outstanding warrants.

The child was placed in protective custody. Police said no one was injured in the crash.
