ST. PAUL -- A jury has convicted a St. Paul man on charges he assaulted his girlfriend but acquitted him on kidnapping charges.
Twenty-nine-year-old Luke Brandon Scott was accused of locking his girlfriend in a dog kennel.
A Ramsey County jury on Monday convicted Scott of assault, terroristic threats and false imprisonment. He was acquitted on two counts of kidnapping.
Prosecutor Janice Barker argued Scott became angry with the 21-year-old woman when she told Scott she no longer wanted to be intimate with him.
Scott's attorney, Leif Carlson, argued that prosecutors had accused his client of "sensational, dark, ugly charges," but the reality was "two intoxicated people acting like children."

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the jury reconvenes Tuesday to determine whether there were aggravating factors that should influence Scott's sentence.
