The chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System was commended for his performance Wednesday and awarded a $40,000 performance incentive.
The MnSCU board of trustees said James McCormick had "superior performance under difficult conditions."
A statement released by board Chairman David Olson said McCormick has done an "outstanding job" leading the 32 colleges and universities in the system.
"This is truly remarkable considering that we have had record enrollment increases while operating with about the same amount of state funding that we had in 2006," Olson said in the statement.
For the second year in a row, McCormick's salary of $360,000 will not be increased. A wage freeze is in place for nearly all system employees.

The board approved a one-time performance incentive of $40,000. He was eligible for up to $50,000.
McCormick's contract expires Aug. 1, 2011, and he has not sought to extend it.
