MNsure hits 100,000 mark in enrollment for this year

ST. PAUL -  MNsure hit the 100,000 mark of enrollees on Tuesday as Minnesota continues to set state records for the percentage of people with health insurance coverage.

Last year, the state-run health insurance program reached that mark on Feb. 21.

“As we enter the final weeks of this open enrollment period, we’re stepping on the gas to make sure all Minnesotans know about the benefits of MNsure,” said CEO Scott Leitz. Feb. 15 is the final deadline to make a plan selection and payment for coverage starting March 1 and also to avoid a penalty on federal taxes.

To date, MNsure has enrolled 43,730 in a private qualified health plan, 16,583 in the state-run MinnesotaCare and 40,441 in Medicaid for the poor, for a total enrollment of 100,754.

The Feb. 15  deadline does not apply to Medicaid or MinnesotaCare recipients or participants in the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP).
