The Moorhead Economic Development Authority is including in its 2008 proposed budget funding for the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corp.
This comes after the city had considered stopping its funding of the corporation because of budget constraints and a reduction in state aid.
The Moorhead EDA decided today to levy $230,000 for its proposed 2008 budget. That budget includes $87,500 for the GFMEDC, a local nonprofit group dedicated to growing the economies of Cass and Clay Counties.
Moorhead City Manager Bruce Messelt had recommended in a memo the Moorhead Economic Development Authority use its budget for Moorhead Airport expenses instead of funding the GFMEDC.
The budget is scheduled to go before the city council Sept. 4. The council must consent to the EDA's budget.
