Moorhead Senior High School football coach Steve Connelly has pleaded guilty in Clay County District Court to a misdemeanor DWI charge.

Connelly entered the plea in the form of a written petition, admitting he operated a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of at least .10 on Aug. 23.

The Clay County Attorney's Office said Connelly is to receive the standard sentence for a first-time, fourth-degree DWI offense -- a $500 fine and 30 days of stayed jail time.

In addition to the court action, Connelly was disciplined by the Moorhead School District.

According to school officials, Connelly was required to make an apology to the Spuds football team and had to sit out a game against Bemidji, Minn.

Connelly also received a "letter of incident" in his personnel file from Moorhead High School Principal Gene Boyle.

Connelly was arrested about 11 p.m. Aug. 23 in rural Clay County after a deputy saw Connelly's vehicle moving erratically on County Road 75.
