A 21-year-old Moorhead man was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly breaking two store windows and setting fire to a bale of compressed cardboard boxes.
Moorhead police received a call about 6:20 a.m. Saturday that cardboard was on fire just north of Walgreens, 900 Main Ave. An officer discovered two display windows were broken on the west side of the building.
After the call was placed, a different officer en route to another call noticed a suspicious-looking man near a vacant building north of Walgreens. When officers went to locate this man, they found a display window had recently been broken on the vacant building.
Around 7:10 a.m., police received a call about an intoxicated man near the river. This man was found and identified as the suspect.
Steven Bellanger, 21, of Moorhead was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal damage to property. He was being held at the Clay County Jail on Saturday.
