- Michael L. Stampfler, owner and managing partner of a consulting firm in Portage, Mich.
- Mark A. Winson, vice president of finance and administration at Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minn.

Councilwoman Lauri Winterfeldt-Shanks said she was impressed with the academic background of the applicants as well as their experience in and outside of work.
"Overall, I'm very pleased with our ability to attract high-quality candidates," she said.
Winterfeldt-Shanks said she was also pleased to see a woman on the list of candidates, noting Johnson's inclusion.
"There typically aren't a lot of women in city administration, so it's nice that there is a woman in this group," she said.

The council selected the six finalists Monday from a list of nine semifinalists identified by their search consultant.
Thirty-two individuals applied for the position.
The Moorhead city manager's position became available when Bruce Messelt left the post in July after being named president of Oak Grove Lutheran School in Fargo in May.
