The Moorhead Police Department is holding a 10-week Citizens' Police Academy.

The program is open to anyone in the community ages 18 and older. It will cover topics including patrol procedures, investigations, computer crimes, traffic stops and firearms, crime scene investigation and use of force, and officer safety concerns, according to a news release.

The academy is a combination of classroom teaching and hands-on learning designed to give citizens an in-depth understanding of policing in the community, the release said.

The program is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays beginning Sept. 24, and class size is limited.

Anyone interested in attending should call Community Policing Coordinator Nancy Taralson at (218) 299-5143.
