The Moorhead Police Explorer Post claimed honors in six categories at the state law enforcement explorer conference held recently at Breezy Point, Minn.
Moorhead explorers took the following honors:
- Second place, defensive tactics, street decisions and crime prevention.
- Third place, crime scene investigations, use of force.
- First place, 5K run.

Adviser officer Scott Kostohryz was chosen as Minnesota adviser of the year.
Explorers are ages 15 to 21 and meet three to four times a month to train.
They help the department with traffic control during parades, bike rodeos and more.
Explorers who competed in the recent competition include: Peter McDonald, Adam Kne, Jessie Heising, Josh Buetow, Kris Kunde, Heather Huddleston, Travis Gefre, Nate Eisenmenger, Zach Nyberg, Autumn Nelson and Caleb Noennig.
The post will select new members this fall.
