Moorhead sanitation officials remind residents not to place garbage cans on top of curbside snow piles.

The mechanical arms on automatic city garbage trucks can't reach high enough to empty trash cans perched on snow banks.

Garbage bins should be put either on the driveway or a spot on the boulevard cleared of snow. They should be 2 to 3 feet from the curb.

There must be 2 feet of clearance on both sides of the bin to give the mechanical arm room to grasp it.
