Moorhead officials are shooting for Thursday to start deploying sandbags in neighborhoods around town.
The actual deployment date remains dependent on the weather, and City Manager Michael Redlinger said officials are open to starting deployment sooner if weather conditions warrant.
He said the city could begin distributing sandbags within 24 hours of making a decision to deploy.
The city's goal is to wait until daytime temperatures are averaging above freezing before sandbag deployment begins.
