Moorhead wants drain pumps outdoors

Moorhead officials encourage residents to help reduce the impact of spring flooding by directing sump pump discharges to the outside of their homes and not into the sanitary sewer.

Moorhead officials encourage residents to help reduce the impact of spring flooding by directing sump pump discharges to the outside of their homes and not into the sanitary sewer.

Homeowners who have been granted a seasonal waiver to discharge sump pumps to the sanitary sewer system are asked to redirect sump pump discharge to the outside.

Sump pump discharges should remain directed to the outside until approximately Nov. 1, 2010.

City officials will notify homeowners when discharges may again be directed to the sanitary sewer.
