SABIN, Minn. - The Minnesota State Patrol says a trooper clocked a motorcycle going 128 mph in a 55 mph zone at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Clay County Road 52 between Sabin and Baker, about 10 miles southeast of Moorhead.
The trooper stopped the motorcyclist and cited Jakob Louis Gehrig, 21, of Barnesville, for speeding, according to Sgt. Jesse Grabow.
Breaking the speed limit by 31 mph and above is a $385 fine, Grabow said. Drivers who are in excess of 100 mph automatically have their driving privileges revoked for a six-month period, he said.
The trooper was northbound on the paved road when he met the southbound 2010 Triumph motorcycle, Grabow said.
Motorcycles account for some of the fastest speeders that troopers encounter, he said.

"But that's one of the faster ones that I can remember in quite some time now," he said.
Gehrig could not be reached for comment.
