Motorcycle driver killed Saturday west of Dickinson

DICKINSON, N.D. -- A 26-year-old Columbus, Mont., man was killed Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle along Highway 10 outside of Dickinson, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

DICKINSON, N.D. -- A 26-year-old Columbus, Mont., man was killed Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle along Highway 10 outside of Dickinson, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The man was driving west on a 2006 Harley Davidson about one-quarter of a mile west of Dickinson and was negotiating a curve in the road when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the eastbound lane.

Kaylie Ficek, 22, of Dickinson, was driving in the eastbound lane in a 2013 Honda Civic when the motorcycle lost control. She attempted to avoid a collision, but struck the motorcycle driver, who was thrown from his vehicle and came to a rest on the roadway.

Both Ficek and her passenger, Kelbie Ficek, 19, of Dickinson, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

The motorcycle driver was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver's name will be released upon notification of next of kin. The crash remains under investigation.
